Kolins Travels
We should have arrived at khoa Sok in the evening but were forced to stay night in Surat Thani so we arrived at around 9am the following morning. The rainy season unleashed the heavens upon us as we arrived but the views from the Jungle Huts Resturant was still a winner. there really is not alot here apart from The National Park, the odd 711 and internet cafe. Saying that the last few days spent here were scorching - and it's rainy season!
Khao Sok is not big time jungle and pretty good for a first time trekor like myself! Two stray dogs seemed to guide us through the trail and kept coming back as if to check we were ok. Getting lost at one point was all part of the fun and walking around 10 Km in total and enduring leaches was pretty knackering. The tree canopys reminded me of sceens from Predator!
The elephant trek was the highlight of Khao Sok for me. Riding high on a elephants neck is actually more comfortable than sitting on a hard seat attached to it's back. Feeding elephants is cool too - it's very rare I meet a creature that can eat more food than me - respect!
Also took a tube done the Sok River - A tyre tube that is hucked in the River, you grab onto it and go with the current! Good fun!
