Kolins Travels
G'day
Well I've finally got around to updating my journal!! I arrived in Cairns on 30th June with a pretty infected leg so it was straight onto anti biotics! Nice! I couldn't drink for 6 days!
I first headed north upto Cape Tribulation where saw my first crocodiles and took part in Jungle surfing through the rainforest on zipper lines - great fun.
Cairns is all about drinking and was a nice city but a little to backpacker orientated for my liking- infact alot of Australia is very chilled and er..a little bit backward! Diving the reef was really good - turtles and sharks with crazy big brain coral. Its the first time I've had the chance to just dive with a buddy and go where I like without a dive master to follow - the trick is to remember where the boat is!.
It's pretty hot here but not amazing as the winter is coming to an end - in a months time it will be 35 degrees plus..time to burn!
I've started my descent down the east coast checking out Mission Beach (where it rained!) and Airlie Beach - home of the Whitsunday islands. Here I have seen hump backed whales on a boat trip and dived a wreck called the Yongala which sunk in 1911.
Currently I'm on a road trip with new friends Phillip (Belgium) and Timbalee (Texas - USA) driving the deserted Australian roads to Noosa and Fraser Island.
I'm hoping to see Steve Erwin at his Zoo tomorrow and watch him feed crocodiles - crikey!
I think alcohal is taking it's toll as we ended up doing karoaki(!) last night to Sweet Home Alabama, singing like country hicks- hope I didn't offend anyone! ha ha
