Arrived in LA, Hollywood after a bit of a nightmare journey. Once I had checked in, in Auckland, I was one of the unlucky 10 people that didn't actually have a space on the plane because it had been over booked. As an alternative they offered to pay expenses at their end (hotel, transport, food) and also at the LA end hostel/hotel wise, plus a wad of compensation money. That didn't sound too bad anyway but they managed to fit me and another younger school girl on, I think because we were girls on our own, so I made it here on the same flight. Bit of a long flight because I had to get straight on the plane, no waiting around etc but there were some good films. Got to the other end and gained an extra day which is good. But it took ages having to go through passport control with the fingerprint and photo taking, and then liek 2 hours in a shuttle to get from the airport to Hollywood, LA is a pretty big place! I haven't really done that much since being here - just walked around Hollywood Boulevard, took an evening walking tour and went up Runyon Canyon to see the views of LA and the Hollywood sign. It is also a massive park where everyone walks their dogs, including the famous. That was pretty cool and was worth doing for only $6. But other then that I have just looked around the shops, it's true what everyone has said - it's really not that great. Maybe if you had money to stay in the nice places like Santa Monica or Bel Air etc but Holywood Boulevard is full of tattoo shops or fancy dress/sex shops. Nice! What did make my day though was seeing Kiefer Sutherland. Awesome! Walked right past me adn managed to get a long distance shot as he went up the escalators. Nice one! Also saw Forest Whittaker but I don't even know who that is, everyone else seemed to though. I'm leaving for San Francisco this evening, a bit scared as 80% of the Greyhound stations are in the roughest part of downtown, full of tramps this one apparently so that should be fun. Looking forward to San Francisco though as I have heard many good things about it.
