Hi there,
About a month ago (13/1/07) we went to Adelaide to go to Dubs's cousin's (Jenny) daughter's (Dani) wedding. We were originally going to Adelaide on the 1st March but around Christmas time Dani called up Dubs and invited us to her wedding. We left for Adelaide straight after work on the Friday night. We went to Dani's house and all the bridesmaids were making last minute plans, so Celia decided to put the rose confetti in all the cones.
We had to leave Dani's place about five hours before the wedding because all the bridesmaids were getting ready. Mark, Dubs's cousin and his partner Tracey decided to take us round the centre of Adelaide and we ended up chilling in the Adelaide Central Market which was massive!
The wedding was spectacular, it was in the Botanic Gardens in Central Adelaide, there were about 5 other weddings going on as well. The weather was really nice, it was not too hot and there was a breeze, so we felt comfortable in our smart clobber! We got to sit at the front with the rest of Dubs's family and then take part in the photos. The reception was three hours after the wedding because Dani and Lachlan (the groom) went to various sights in Adelaide to take photos with the bridesmaids and the groom party. We then went to Dubs's Aunt Jean's house to chill out and get to know her better, the hunger had already kicked in at this point so we proceeded to devour the delicious Anzac Biscuits she made along with her cakes.
The reception was at a venue called "The Palais" which was by the beach. The function was in some annex on the beach. There was loads to eat and the wine and beer flowed nicely! There were the standard speeches and dancing. We were really chuffed to get a shout out in Lachlan's speech considering we had not met him before. The DJ was also so enthusiastic, never have we seen someone so passionate about cheese music, she should go to Ocean! The only unfortunate thing about the night was the extortionate taxi prices! Thirty Quid to go about 6 miles! Shocking!
On Sunday we went to a fine Restaurant in Glenelg by the docks. It was a really nice fish restaurant. The only trouble was that we could not enjoy the meal properly as we left half an hour before our flight. Although we only met Dubs's family for a very brief period we had a fabulous weekend and were really glad that we went. We are definitely looking forward to going back to Adelaide at the start of March to get to know everybody better.
