Day 3
After last night, and not having any plans til 3pm, we decided to be lazy in the morning. I got up early...ish and started to read. It was about an hr before Sara awoke we got up and did the usual morning things, before going to the roof for a swim and a sun bake. It was soo relaxing, still over 30C, but not needing much sun cream. I was shocked when I found out we were sitting up there for a good 2 hrs, swimming and sun baking. Sun baking is a lot easier when u have a book to read. We came back down stairs hungry so we ordered pizza... to my surprise almost everything on the menu had capsicum on it. We ordered a feast and ate it watching some tv. Next on our list of things to do, was the safari!!!
We caught a taxi at 230pm to go to some hotel, where all three of us where getting picked up from at 3pm. I was expecting a big 4wd bus or something, so it was a surprise when it was just a standard land cruiser. The trip out there was boring, but when we finally got off the road, we met up with a 2nd 4wd, and had to wait while the drivers deflated the tyres a bit. It was then time to go dune bashing!!!
Eri, who had sat in the front seat all the way there, decided to give up her seat to me, as she thought it would be a little scary. So I jumped in front eager for some off road fun. The ride was a lot of fun; it was scary when the driver went down the slopes on an angle... It feels like the 4wd is going to roll over, except for the engine roaring and sand pouring up over half of the windscreen. It was also cool when the driver would charge up one side of some of the HUGE dunes and as u got to the top I looked down, and saw a massive drop, and down the other side we would go.
We stopped half way for a break. I think it was for the queazy weaklings in the vehs (i.e. Sara and eri, lol) that can't handle much sudden movements while in motion. so we had a rest for a bit. I was amazed by how cool and fine the sand was, unlike the aussie red dirt you couldn't walk on after it hit 30C. The other half of the dune bashing was just as fun, and we ended up at the camp a while later.
The camp was down a dune from where we parked, but there were camels and sand boards, so we kept busy having fun, but walking up the loose sand on the dunes... biggest work out I had for years. lol. When the sun set, we went down to the camp and hung out before dinner. Dinner was cool, bbq Arabic meats. MMmmm!!!
After dinner we tried on traditional wear and smoked from the hubbley bubbley. Interesting fact, apparently if you smoke one whole session from one of them, its equivalent to 70 cigarettes... crazy ha?!?
We headed home after that... and I fell asleep on the journey home. When we got home, we watched some tv before falling asleep.
Day 4
Nothing much to report today, more sun baking and swimming on the roof. I have now finished the first Harry potter and onto the second. We also went to lunch at Chilli's. it was some tex-mex restaurant... but it was cool (why don't we have more texmex in Perth, I love it!!!) the afternoon was lazy. Too lazy at one stage when I was convinced to go to the henna shop. I get there and ladies only in the tattooing section. So I sat, bored, laying down on the couch, because every time I moved and sat up, the chime for someone walking into the shop went off. After about 20minutes Eri came out to tell me that I should catch a taxi home, as they could be another 15-30mins. So I left... and that's where I get to here... tonight we go to a Lebanese restaurant after I finished packing, and then maybe hit the town... as this is their Saturday... (They have fri and sat off, work sun-thurs) and tomorrow, we head to Dubai.... then on to Denmark... scary stuff!!
