Up at the crack of dawn for my good night good morning Skype with Karen. Love Love.
Moved out of the plush Blythswood Square Hotel and started my holidays today. Grabbed a train from the Glasgow Queen's street station bound for Edinburgh. For those of you who haven't been over, the trains are fab. They run only 15 or 20 mins apart for the main towns and are comfortable. It is the best of the Greyhound and the LRT mixed together.
The Scottish countryside is very beautiful. I arrived in Edinburgh and fumbled around for about an hour before getting my bearings and sorting out the city transit.
I have only snapped a few pics today but i will get to it tomorrow.
This evening I went to 'The Jazz Bar'. It is a little hole in the wall club in the heart of Edinburgh on Chambers street. All of the local musicians play there regularly. Linda has been part of a mentorship program for young classically trained musicians for the past year; called the 'Tinderbox'. They have been working in a Jazz band format to help the youths learn how to apply their theoretical training to improvisation and performance. Lots of fun. Anyway i got to see the year end show, very cool.
At about 1030 a fantastic 3 piece got up and jammed out some amazing stuff from Myles Davis to Herby Hancock. What a great guitarist! The bassist was holdin it down and walkin it out too. Very talented, I will be back there before i leave Edinburgh for sure.
Well bedtime crashing on the floor tonight then off to my accom where i will be until Kim and I head for London. I found us a place for 20 pounds a night! Private room and a VERY secure facility.

dan Hey Gordo can you check your email? Need a favor.
Mom and Dad Dan, we wish you a happy Canada Day in your new seconde home! Check out the BBC-you might catch a shabby little interview with a reporter on Capitol Hill ! Caught us unawares, he did! We're so glad you have fallen in love with Scotland! Enjoy! love, Mom and Dad
Gord. Dan got the mail - need more details - you're as bad at e-mail as you are at blogging - just kidding - good one today!! You should try and take in a ghost walk round the castle if you get a chance. Noted your good experience at the rail service - I would say your experience is an exception rather than the norm. You need to find the famous Greyfriars 'Bobby' statue - never a sadder story of a dog loyalty to its owner. Met a young Spanish Student today at our local Canada Day pancake breakfast - she is staying at Claire's friends doing the Canadian experience - I explained you would be doing the Spanish equivalent - she being from Madrid she highly recommends that you must see the Puerta del Sol Anyways dude - if you ever saw Trainspotting then try not to stumble into the wrong bar - unless you are doing a tour www.leithwalks.co.uk
