Today we headed for Kings Canyon. We decided to stay at Kings Creek station after some good reviews from other campers. We pulled into the station and the first thing that Ella spots is a baby camel. The station also had five dogs, many other camels, and a baby cow. The kids were in heaven.
We met up with Adrian and Michelle and planned the next morning walk of the canyon rim.
Michelle, Mum and I were up at 5am and headed off into the darkness. It was freezing but I was so excited I didn't care. The first 200 metres were straight up, and very daunting, but the view from the top was exhilarating :)) We finished the walk in a couple of hours and spent the rest of the day swimming, followed by drinks at sunset. It was a day I will never forget and I'm so lucky to spend it with two people I love very much :)))
While we were there we also thought it was appropriate to try the local cuisine Camel burger... Four of us were keen, so we all put in for the $14 burger...( we didn't tell Ella) I know you think I'm going to say it tasted like chicken, but it really only tasted like beef, in fact it probably was beef.
I met some great people on this leg, Lisa and Boyd were just at the end of their three month trip with three kids. They gave us their lonely planet book for WA, how nice was that...off to Alice Springs tomorrow.
