Hi Everyone, I have had a few people recently say that its been a while since they heard anything from me. It doesn't feel that long from this side, but then i have been pretty busy recently. Good to see that after you all said about the lengths of my previous emails that now they are gone your missing them!!!! ha ha :D Anyways. I am currently doing two different jobs in order to save much needed money for new zealand. I am working in evenings in Rhino bar (which is one of the biggest and most popular bars in cairns) as a glassy (someone who collects glasses!). I am still working during the day and some evenings for the ultimate party selling tickets during the day but I dont genrally finish until around 4am in Rhino so its a pretty tiring schedule to keep up. . I am leaving for new zealand on the 3rd October (Last change....definitely) so i am really excited about that. I think that i am going to travel both islands with Stray bus tours like kiwi experience, but cheaper!! ( http://www.straytravel.com/) The guys that i am working for at ultimate party also run tours so they are really looking after me basically giving me the whole tour around the south island for free (a saving of about $800) I am going to be quite tight for time whilst i am there as the round the world ticket runs out at the end of october (that will be a year from when i left...amazing hey!!). That means that i am going to have to use the flight from NZ to Fiji by that date. I still get just under a month in NZ so that should hopefully give me enough time to see most of the country. Its going to be really weird / hard to leave Cairns. I might even make a crazy statement and say this is my favourite place in Australia!!!!! Madness i know, but with the Great Barrier reef, the cool Lagoon area and all the cool shops, restaurants and bars it is a really cool place to be. With the jobs that i have been doing EVERYONE seems to know who i am (lucky for them, because i haven't got a clue who they are 70% of the time!! I just try and blag my way through until i get some kind of clue who they are!!) Its a really nice feeling to walk around town, or be out in a bar and have loads of people saying "hello" to you, and ask how you are etc. Most people know me from working on the party, but i think being in the bar in the evenings people are recognising me from there too. I have also made some really good friends up here. My bosses (Graham and Paul) from ultimate party have been really good to me, and helped me out loads. They are really cool people and have been great to work for. Also all the guys that i have met who worked for us, and then the people that i have signed up (for the most part) have turned out to be really cool, and i have chatted to them alot around town, and been for loads of nights out with. Most of all though i have really had fun up here. Cairns is a massive party town with people from all parts of the world going out most nights for some kind of deals / special event or party in the bars! The ultimate party has been a very cool job, and i am even kind of enjoying the glassy job. It is going to be really nice to go to somewhere new, and i cant wait for Fiji either (paradise!!), but its going to be hard to leave. Anyways... That is pretty much much where i am at the moment. Once i have done Fiji, i am thinking that i will fly back into either Melbourne or Surfers paradise. Surfers has a nutorious couple of weeks called "schoolies" this is when all of the schools break up and come to surfers paradise for some massive parties. I would get a job for "plan B" (kind of like our sister company) selling tickets to all the ozzie school leavers. Apparently there is some SERIOUS cash to be made with $500 a day not being much at all, so i am not sure what to do!! When its a choice between that or going back to melbourne to do SQL in a air conditioned office, the answer shouldn't be that tough tho!!! We will see With Xmas and new year fast approaching (again) i think that i will spend xmas in Melbourne and New year in Sydney, again this plan is open to massive change, but pretty much everyone i have met is going to Sydney for New year, so its going to be a seriously big party! It still doesn't feel like long ago that i arrived in Australia and had my last xmas and new year with all the guys from Kanga (Hi Guys :D) So much has happened since then, it is really weird when i actually think about how long i have been away. Well, i had better go. I am going to go out and sell some tickets for the bar crawl. We have a big party tonight and have around 80 going already, so should be able to get that up around 100. We are running bar crawls thurs,fri, sat & sunday next week with around 300 expected on sat (my last bar crawl :( ) thats how many friends i have made......not really! It should be a really good night tho. Oh....before i go, i told some of you that one of the parties was followed be JJ TV ( a national television channel out here). They basically followed us around all night and saw what we were doing. They were filming it for a peice about the nightlife in Cairns, so it should be quite good. Anyway, i found out that it may be appearing on ABC!!! uh oh!! not really, i dont think that they got much of me, but there might be a few glimpses...i was pretty sober that night too so hopefully there is nothing too incriminating in the footage. I will try and let you know when it is going to be on (if i found out) but keep an eye out for something like that in the listings and you might just be able to see what i have been doing 2-3 nights a week for the last month!!!
