Osh to Wild Camp in Fergama mountains
Left Osh late we didn't realise the clocks had moved on an hour, to hit our first real dirt in the mountains. Headed for the XXX pass not too high but 3200 metres not too low either, road was a real challenge started off ok but as we got further in it had been repaired so many times from wash outs that we spent most of the day bouncing from rock to rock with the usual 2000 foot drop about 6 feet away. Had my first fright half way up the pass when the bike slipped off the side of the path into a rut then bounced into a pile of rocks, managed to finish right side up but only by good luck. Alan, Lee and Dave had minor offs, really just bike drops, so we all got to the top of the pass and camp ok. A couple of the local herdsman's sons helped me put up my tent until granddad came over and pulled them back in line - probably thinks we're a bad influence. Had my second cigar of the trip sat along side a mountain stream with a reasonable cup of coffee hah bliss!, though I have to say a metal mule pannier alternating in temperature from 4 to 40 degrees does not make a great humidor.
