This is a section of the Roman Baths which were a very elaborate and massive building filled with hot and cold baths, steam rooms, massage rooms and pools for swimming. The baths were very elaborately decorated with frescos all over and the floors were all highly decorated with tiled mosaics in grand patterns as shown here. The Romans really knew what life was about as these were areas for pampering and relaxation but we assume it was not the same life for all the city's population.
