Katakolon Greece-Olympia
The statue of Hermes and the infant Dionysus found during excavation of the Temple of Hera at Olympia. This is a beautiful sculpture make of the highest quality marble and it has a glowing surface as it is so shiny and smooth. Legend has it the smooth surface comes from all the temple maidens running their hands over the statue which has given it such an ultra smooth surface. This statue was unearthed in pieces around 1877 and it took some time to find the pieces with some still unfortunately missing to this day.
