The ruins of the ancient Greek area of Olympia are a much visited area by hundreds of thousands of cruise ship and other visitors. The area is in surprisingly good condition after being unearthed from being buried under silt for thousands of years. The town was used for over 1000 years every 4 years for the original Greek Games which were open only to Greek people. The town when not used was basically deserted with only caretakers to maintain it but every fourth year people would travel from all over the Greek empire to watch and compete.
