Hello!!! I had the best day today so far on my adventure. The grand canyon is awesome and for anyone who is going to Las Vegas they must go on a helicopter flight over the canyon and then stop off at the ranch it is value for money.
I booked a lunchtime canyon flight as I had my concert to go to in the evening. There were 6 of us on the flight. the 5 others were all from the UK (Norfolk)
We had a safety video first before our flight and we had to be all weighed. Luckily I was chosen to sit at the front with the pilot!!! The ride was really cool and the views of the strip, Lake Las Vegas (where all the celebs live) and the natural lake were superb!!!
The grand canyon itself was breath taking!! The kings canyon in Oz is nothing compared to this. We flew over the western edge of the canyon. It took 1 hour to get to the canyon from Las Vegas airport and was over 135 miles away.
It was quite windy so we were up and down a bit (not sure Dad would have liked it ) but my stomach survived!!
Once at the ranch, we has a ranch lunch which to be honest was not that good, it was chicken, sweetcorn, beans and some rancid corn cake. The host sang to us some western songs whilst we ate.
Afterwards I booked to go horseriding which was a lot of fun and we saw a gun shooting performance afterwards.
The ranch felt like being on my Oz tour again, and stopping off at one of the cattle stations as we were in the middle of nowhere and you could camp there.
On the way back our pilot decided to show off a bit (well we egged him on) and we had some fun going at high speed and going on our side. The chicken obviously did not agree with one of my fellow passengers as she was sick everywhere!!! All adds to the experience.
Once I got back to the hotel I got ready for the Celine Dion concert. When I arrived at Ceasers Palace, again, I felt a bit out of place as everyone was in black tie and dress for the concert and inside the forum they were serving champagne!!!
The concert itself was fantastic!!! Celine sang all the classics and the show itself was spectacular!! It was a bit like being at a cross between a concert and at the theatre. It was all over far too quick!!! It obviously had cost tons to produce hence the expensive tickets but was worth every single penny.
I think will have a go at putting my photos on once I get to Melbourne!!!!
