La Rioja is a small city 10hrs north of Mendoza and on the way to Salta, our next destination. We have dropped off here to see the Valle de Luna and Talampaya Canyon. Both are dramatic rock formations and landscapes formed over millions of years by rain and wind erosion. Also, a lot of prehistoric skeletons and old human petroglyphs have been found here as well.
