Today our day began with another lay in.... All this travelling is tiring.
As we had decided to stay two extra days in Bangkok we needed to book our room for two extra days, now the receptionist tried to rip us off and charged us more than we had paid for the previous nights, so Luke had to barter her down to what we had previously paid.
Then we headed out to begin our day, and one of the locals approached us and after asking us where we were from and what we wanted to do, he then advised us on places to go and recommended that we go to the tourist information centre, and before we could stay yes be had hailed a tuk tuk and bartered him down from 10 Bart to 5 Bart which is like 10 pence back home for a ten min jouney.
Well well well the tourist information centre, information overload, we were there over an hour. He advised us on our whole route and then proceeded to tell us it would cost us £2500 each for what he had planned, obviously this didn't go down too well with us. Plus he said it would be 1200 Bart each for the bus Krabi... More on this later. So we decided to go for a walk and decide what we wanted to do.
We went for a walk to khao San road to get me some sunglasses, why do Bangkok oh well fake designer sunglasses....? I am more than happy with monsoon sunglasses, anyhow I tried loads of pairs on which were all too big and settled on a lovely dolce & gabanna pair :s so now I have sunglasses .
Then we went to the wat ratchanada which was free admission surprisingly considering how amazing it is, so we made a donation. We went round the grounds and then into the building which was outstanding. We went up the spiral staircase and on each level there were columns which had plaques on with paragraphs that had so much meaning. We went right to the top where we assume the monks preach. By the time we left it was 5pm and we were going to go to golden mountain but it closed at5.30 so we wouldn't have had enough time, so we've saved that until tomorrow.
After this we went to a 7/11 the local supermarket here, where Luke got to cola slush and I got the strawberry fanta, we then went to the sanam luang to watch the kite flying and have a chill with our beverages.
This evening we went for for some food, well we cracked and had garlic bread to start, I mean we have it practically every day at home, we were nearly having withdrawal symptoms, but it was gorgeous, however we can't say the same for my main, Thai fried thick noodles with chicken and egg, the noodles were as thick as a ruler no joke, and slimy. But we had waffle, ice cream and chocolate to make up for it.
Then we booked our bus to Krabi for 650 Bart per person way cheaper than what the gentleman at the tourist information centre. We also found another street that we hadn't seen before which was very lively so we will be returning there tomorrow .
Luke
The only reason the nice Thai person stopped to talk to us was to make fun of how white I was.... He said it was ok though because after a week I would look like him!! Now I really doubt this he's obviously never seen me tan before...
