Fiji - Week 1
After a short flight to Fiji we arrived in Nadi at Smugglers Cove, there is no time difference from NZ to Fiji so we didn't lose any hours :) We arrived just in time for the sunset and a walk along the beach. Nadi was just a relaxing couple of days until we headed on our island hopping experience.
South Sea Island
This was our first stop off the Yellow Yasawa Flyer (the ferry) it was the smallest island we stayed on. But to our dissappointment the weather was poop when we arrived and a storm hit soooooo we stayed indoors and it cleared up late afternoon so we could take a walk around the island which took all of 4minutes.
On our second day here we went on the Seaspray trip, it rained again the same as the previous day but we didn't mind as we were in the water snorkling :) First stop was at Modriki Island which is where the movie Castaway was filmed this is where we snorkled it was so beautiful and surprisingly deep to say how close to shore it was, the coral was so colourful and the fish were HUGE but in this area they weren't so interested in the snorklers as at other places we went to. Did I mention that onboard the boat was free food, alcohol and drinks all day :) so we took advantage, we even had a BBQ lunch :) and champagne! In the afternoon we went to a Fijian village for a Kava ceremony, eurgh it tastes disgusting just like muddy water :( but we tried it.
Manta Ray Island
Today we headed to Manta Ray Island which is meant to be one of the best islands in Fiji...
The island is beautiful and has a gorgeous view from the dining room which is high on the hill so you can look out to the ocean and surrounding islands :) The food here was amazing there was so much choice and it was very tasty. Our first day wasn't sunny but thankfully our second was, this day we also did the sunset tube cruise, where we took some alcoholic beverages and some rubber dingys and boarded a boat out to sea where we jumped in on our dingys and watched the sunset :) blissssss.
Even though we have had minimal sun it is still fantastic because of all the activities we can do instead :)
