14th March Left Potosi at 6am heading for La Paz. La Paz is 3650 metres above sea level and is the highest capital city in the world. Was founded in 1548. It was Raining heavy and traffic was terrible. There was a great lookout as we entered the city with large mountain range in the distance. La Paz is in a huge valley. Arrived in Uyuni walked around local markets. Went for drinks at the "Extreme Bar". The glasses were all different shapes and sizes, (body parts). There were cocktails, one of them had Llama sperm in it. If a friend wrote extreme fun on your bum you got a free drink. Sucre founded in 1538 is three hours from Potosi. We went to see the Cal Orck'o dinosaur tracks which date back 68 million years. Whilst the footprints were fascinating I was a little disappointed that we could only view them from 300 metres away. Left Tupiza at 9.30 as Jenny had to go back to hospital. Potosi founded in the 17th Century is at 3900 meters and one of the highest cities in the world. This town is the remains of a place that was once the home of the wealthiest people in the world. The silver mines, whilst depleted still operate today. Left at 6am heading for Bolivian border. What a @!? one entrance at immigration for both incoming and outgoing. A French tourist got into a squabble with a Bolivian and had a fist fight. I was grabbed by one of the French. They were really rude and impatient. After 2 hours were got our passports stamped and exited Argentina. Tupiza is a quiet little town amidst desert landscapes.
