Saying goodbye, sorry au revoir, to my beautiful butterfly was real tough at Hong Kong airport. Made the next four hours or so real long waiting to board the superjumbo. Had previously read an article in Daily Mail that all A380's should be grounded due to a microscopic crack in wings.. what a load of tosh! Smoothest bird/beast I've ever flown on, loved it!! Arrived in Bangkok and it was double the temperature in HK, at night!! Stayed in same same guesthouse/dorm stayed in last time in Bangkok which made me miss my cousin and people had pleasure of staying with previously. So in essence first day back was really subdued but managed to head out to Chit Lom and walk around Centralworld before chilling in Lumphini park watching the world go by or jog by.
Second day here was a bit frazzle dazzled so just took it easy and went for a massage (no not the happy ending type hehe) and then had a bit of a Burmese language lesson as am hoping to get to Burma in the next couple of weeks. In the evening was chillin & chatting with a couple of ex pats and hearing all their Thailand stories.. very interesting!! Friday headed out with a dorm buddy and headed to Siam square famous for its shopping malls and markets before walking for quite a while east to the Golden Mount. Was a bit tiring walking especially with all the smog and fumes from the heavy, constant traffic and high humidity but was well worth the hassle as it was in a quiet and hilltop location with scenic 360 degree views of Bangkok. Headed over to the infamous Khao San road and its markets later which was fun but too many people trying to flog you someat you didn't want. Walked past Wat Po at dusk and got the boat further down the river passing Wat Arun which looked really good all lit up. Got our socks blown off by the blooming spicy street food later on.
Went to the weekend flea market on saturday which according to the spiel is the biggest one in the world. It was flaming roasting however so was hard work walking around everywhere so had a happy feet massage when got back to near hostel. Went to Patpong with an ex-pat who reminded me of Robert Carlysle's character from The Beach.. crazy mofo! We were watching the premiership footie in an Irish pub and thought he was gonna kick off a la Carlysle style in Trainspotting, thought ffs here we go.. Luckily we didn't and moved on to the seedy side of town, Patpong, which was a real eye opener!! Monday was all about one thing, Myanmar visa! Tuesday was the US dollar hunt in Bangkok followed by a bit of Soi Cowboy at night haha which is all about sports like ping pong and ballooning ;)
Today off to Burma for three weeks, really really looking forward to it.
