After the tearful goodbyes to my mum & sister who came to see me off at Preston train station it was a smooth journey down to London Euston & then across to Heathrow no problemo. Heathrow however is where the problemo started! Flight overbooked and was put on a standy by list. I thought tremendous, good way to start the travels!
Fortunately not everyone turned up and 1 hour before departure was told had a seat on the plane, the seat no was my age 33E so thought that was very pertinent. Flight over was good and watched Thor which was rather good although originally mistook it for Thoth the Egyptian god lol, doh!
At the airport lots of dodgy looking geezas trying to get me into their taxi, one being quasi forceful and was ready to tell him where to shove it when fortunately saw my ride downtown, Mahmood. What a crazy mofo he is! Thinks he's Michael Schumacher and was playing snake on the main road into town. I'm sat there s***ting me keks and he's just smiling saying "no problem i good driver not much traffic" I thought thank chuff its 2am!!
Hostel is decent and right in the heart of Cairo literally a couple of minutes from El Tahreer Square. Hardly slept due to all the weird and random noises in my room ranging from the Turtle sex on steroids noise (youtube it) to a didgeridoo and god knows what else!?
Just had an Egyptian style brekkie full of falafel and ready to rock and roll but thought would write this blog first and let the brekkie settle just in case hehe..
Reet.. off exploring Cairo now adios! :D x
