When Ed picked us up from the train station, took us to our own apartment and informed us that we leave for the bar at 4.30pm I knew it would be a good weekend. Dominic, of course, already knew since he met Ed and Dara on a flight from San Diego to London where they proceeded to get rather drunkety drunk.
Mark the award-winning barman managed to get all of us drunk by continuously refilling our drinks before they got too low and there was danger of us sobering up but not before tasting the superb seared Ahi (tuna) and other little treats. What a great welcome to Del Mar!
Over the next few days we ate, we went to the beach, we drank, we ate... we saw a baseball game from club seats! Ah yes, we saw the Padres play erm another team (sorry don't remember) and it was so exciting! Home runs all over the place, singing, camera antics (e.g."kisscam" - any couple that appears on camera must kiss! Which kinda makes it a bit awkward if you went to the game with your brother or something!), a gripping final few points, the beers, the foot long hot dog...oh and a firework display at the end of the game. The whole experience was 'awesome' and I must say I loved every minute.
We continued to eat and drink our way through the next few days until E & D took us on an 8-mile hike to help us work off all the extra calories. Which was lovely if a bit knackering but just made me more hungry
Re updating the website, sorry we've been so slack but there aren't that many internet cafe's in the US - people tend to have their own laptops. We have lots of photos but probably won't be able to put them on until we get to Utah in a weeks time (yes, we've run out of money).
