What a beautiful name for a beautiful girl...I am so happy for you Chantal. Seems like things are going well and I am glad to see that Kaleia is nursing like a pro . Her lip seems minor and doesn't seem to be affecting the nursing too much (you must be relieved)...when do they plan on operating?

It was great to get some news...I was thinking about you a lot these days and wondering if you had given birth. I'm so happy for you my dear. Take care of yourself and of your little angel...just relax, drink lots of liquids (no alcohol ) and nurse! That'll pretty much be your life for the next few weeks...but don't worry, eventually, things will start to vary a little more, you'll add making purées and going to the park to your list of things to do...and most importantly...you'll love (almost) every minute of it...I can tell.

I'm sending lots of love and some extra energy your way...and I'll keep checking in to get any blog updates.

Hi Kaleia,

I'm so glad you're finally born Kaleia. You're so beautiful and I love you so much. I'm one of your aunts. My name is Gilda, but all of your cousins call me Gigi, so you can call me Gigi too.

I'm the aunt who will sing "Itsy, bitsy spider" to you to try lift your spirits when you're down. Your aunt Mich will tell you funny stories about your Daddy when he was a baby (there are a lot of stories) and your Aunt Anouk will make you great things to eat (when you learn to chew). Your uncle Rob will try to fix anything you break and uncle Remi will chase after you, to tickle you until you pee in your diaper. Nonna will think you're never eating enough and therefore will always try to feed you and Nonno always seems to be falling asleep in his rocking chair until you try to change the channel on the TV from RAI to Teletoons.

Before I go I have some advice for you. I noticed from the beautiful pictures that you seem to have Daddy's baby cheeks. They're nice cheeks, its just that people like to pinch big cheeks. So if someone tries to squeeze them or pinch them, just run away from them. Yes I know you can't run yet, but you can try to hide your face in someone's arm or shoulder (depending on how you're being held). You have to do this before they squeeze your cheeks or else it will hurt even more. Don't worry, it won't last forever, you will eventually grow out of them, just like Daddy did.

Say hello to mommy and daddy and tell them that I miss all of you too. I hope to see you soon Kaleia.

I was beginning to wonder when you three would post another update!

I'm so glad to hear (and see) that you are all settling in quite nicely. The flat looks great! I'm curious - what percentage of your furnishings were things you brought with you and what percentage have been purchased in Berlin? Everything meshes so nicely together.

I loved the belly pics. Chantal, you look positively radiant with your perfect baby belly! And Domenic, I'm impressed that you resisted the urge to grow your own belly with a sympathetic pregnancy. Nice look with the tool belt, by the way.

I'm looking forward to seeing more pics once the flat is finished. By the way, your minimalist kitchen reminds me of a toy kitchen - I would love that as an alternative to the huge and bulky appliances we have here.

Anyway, can't wait to see the post that follows the birth of your precious little girl! Please stay well and stay safe... and continue to update us!
