On the advice of Xavier, we decided to try this morning, to post our warm clothes home to save carrying them around for the next 2 months. However it turned out to be a right old pain in the a*se!! We caught a taxi to the Post Office to be told the price, but also that we had to wrap it in brown paper which we could only get from a supermarket & there wasn't one close by!! So a taxi back to visit 2 supermarkets before we found some brown paper, wrapped the package at the hostel & headed back (via another taxi) to the Post Office. Once there we were told that they needed to look inside the package before it could be sealed! However just as we were about to open our perfectly wrapped parcel, a senior lady that we'd seen earlier, said not to worry, bur not to do it again! After that, we then needed to get a photocopy of our passport, which was only available from a store 50m down the road! Only a 'rapid' 20mins later (due to the ridiculously slow pace at which the guy worked, coupled with us having to fill in forms & then glue about a million stamps on the package!) & the process was complete! This was one of the most painful processes I've ever had to go through & it was only because of the very kind customers working as our translators that we managed it & it wasn't SO unbearable. (Also each of us losing a third of our rucksack made the whole experience easier to swallow). Then with Juliet, we taxied it down to the Old Quarter of the city for a spot of lunch & a leisurely stroll around. So many of the buildings are colonial, but dilapidated & empty, which is a real shame as they look like they'd have been stunning at the time. A taxi back & a relaxing afternoon chilling in the hostel, left us all feeling quite relaxed. Juliet then joined us for a stunning meat skewer dinner at the mall before heading back for a spot of tv & then at 11pm, off to the bus station. Unfortunately, when we got there, they had no tickets left for the bus at midnight, so we had to book on the 3am bus! b*****!! Cards & cheap fizzy drinks kept us awake until the bus (with me only dropping off twice!), where we luckily got 2 seats each & fell asleep.
