With our Windlesham boys (Harry, Craig & Ross) & the other English guys we'd met in La Serena (Cal, Dean & Hailey), we hired bikes & 3 boards & cycled to the sand dunes to go sand boarding. Even though there was only 2 roads, Dean still managed to go wrong & take us on a 6km detour up hills that were too steep to cycle up, so we had to get off & push our bikes up them. However we did get to see the Lunar Valley (see pic) & only had 1 bike mishap with Hailey's chain. We got there eventually though & took it in turns to walk up the killer sand dune to then surf down it. I only had 1 go, as I was in sandals & the metal board straps dug into my ankles. However I was OK at it & managed to stand up most of the way down. Rach stayed sensible & didn't risk it. After cycling the short way back (4km!), we all raided the offie (after our cheap chicken & chips) & went back to the hostel for a night of beers. With Cal's 'Scream 4' comments, & others joining us, (including Dave from Mendoza's cycle wine tour) it was a good night.
