IOS began with our arrival at a quaint and isolated Villa named Glaros. The proprietors were an English family based with two kids; 8 and 17. We became close friends with the 17 year old Nikos who gave us the low down on the island and a route of what to do. The island was a desert during the day which surprised us but as soon as it hit 12pm, the ground shook.. Thousands of people our age swarm the tiny alleyways and clubs. Nikos guided us around the maze to his uncles joints and the rest...
Ending the 4 nights with not one bedtime before 8am we believe we conquered the island appropriately!
Santorini was exactly what we wanted.. Greeted by Artemis, the owner of Artemis Village himself, his lovely wife and daughter introduced themselves and showed us to our room. The Village, had a perfect infinity pool, awe inspiring views of the black sand beaches and was literally perched on a rock in the middle of nowhere. Which is exactly what we wanted after IOS. Having no idea what to do in santorini Artemis's wife took the time to sit us down and show us a map of the island what was good what wasn't and explained if we needed any help to ask her. We retired to the room to get changed have a quick swim and then dinner at an amazing restaurant with whole stuffed squid which was incredibly healthy after our recent meals. The next few days went in a blur or quad bike riding, sitting by the pool, shopping, getting lost and partying. As always we managed to survive yet another place even with everybody doubting us. Our final day greeted us with what would be for Smoe and I possibly the largest transit of our life. Starting with a nine hour ferry from santorini which we were close to missing because smoe forgot his board shorts we ended up in Athens at midnight and having to pay for a taxi from the port to the airport 20 euros each we made it to the airport by 130am only to find no comfortable seats to sleep on we opted for staying up for a bit to book transfers from brussels to amsterdam and amsterdam to port Leucate or Theo's beach house.
Having got these done we finally settled down to the airport floor at approximately 330am for a nice sleep #eurofailnumber48 airport floors are not as comfortable as McDonald's couches... Being woken up at 5am by a big Greek security guard is an experience to say the least especially he's 6 ft 5 and built like a bull.
