After a short flight from Dublin to London we arrived in the train stations in the midst of rush hour. It was absolute chaos! If you stopped to blink or figure out where you need to go you would be trampled. I don´t think that I have ever seen so many people in one place before, especially not people in a hurry. We located our hostel which.. much to our surprise was not what we expected! The list of negatives started with having to lug our stuff up 6 flights of stairs (over 115, yes I counted). Then we we go to out room we realized one of our roommates was a guy! There were two sets of bunkbeds, a tiny window and no sink...which forced us to use the sorry excuse of a bathroom. I could describe it all day but to sum things up... it was DIRTY, there was no privacy, and taking a shower was nearly out of the question for us and our higher standards.
Our first night we went and had dinner at a nice place in Piccadilly Circus area and then went to see Big Ben and Parliment at night.
Day 2- Started the day off with a walking tour of the city. I had started to feel sick on our last day of Ireland and by now I feel terrible. The tour led us to Buckingham Palace, Trafalgar Square, Westminster Abbey, and many more. After the tour we set out to find lunch. I could barely eat I felt so bad, after that we decided to split ways. Lauri stayed out and went to a museum while I went all the way back to the hostel to get some rest. Then after a few hours Lauri returned and we went to have dinner at a cute Italian restaurant. Then we went to bed.
By the end of day two the travelling has begun to wear on out bodies. I cant even begin to describe the pains in our feet and legs. All we could think about was a nice hot shower and sleep..lots of sleep. However there wasn´t much showering in London for us..
Day 3- Woke up early and took some pictures before all of the crowds came out. Then took the metro to the British Musuem. After that we took the metro across town again to Shakespeare´s Globe Theater to see Helen. Due to our budget our tickets were standing only and after a 2hour show our feet and back ached even more. After the show was over we got another metro to Claridges for afternoon tea, which consisted of tea, finger sandwiches, scones, and fancy little desserts. It was a lot of fun. The place was really fancy and even had a bathroom attendant who practically washed your hands for you. After our spot of tea we walked along Hyde Park enjoying the beautiful weather and then headed for Buckingham Palace to get pictures of the guards (see video).
Off to Paris!
