Julia Wonderful to read. Gives me itchy feet to travel more. Maybe when the boys are independent in a few years time and I reach retirement (too far away). Looking forward to reading more.
Fiona Volcanoes, steaming vents, bubbling mud; geophysical delights! And no rain either but I think this is our one day of summer today so I'm afraid you might miss it!

re: Snow and VolcanoesJulia Very Swiss and as in the mountains here in summer one has to be prepared for boiling hot or snowy cold weather. Exhilarating.

re: Snow and VolcanoesTina Do keep writing when you can - really enjoying following your travels. Looks like Hood River is on the major river between Washington and Oregon? Still rainy and blowy here. Enjoy the journey back south.
re: Waterfalls, dams and a lot of snow.Fiona Giant piggy banks in Seattle...mmm...it was all decorated swans in Wells last week!
re: Black tailed deer and giant pigs.Tina Vampires, sea lions and gorgonzola, sounds surreal even without the whispering spruces, snakes and Humptulips! Keep it up! must get a better map to follow your route. Rain and cold here.
re: Sealions and ocean views.Susan So even the slugs are bigger in the USA? It sounds like you have been really lucky with your animal sightings so far. I hope the rest of your trip is as good and look forward to seeing more photos.
re: Pygmies and GiantsFiona The wildlife sounds wonderful; you have seen a huge variety already. We're just back from a very wet week away in Bristol/Somerset/Cheltenham. We spent a lot of time in cathedrals/abbeys/churches avoiding the rain! Look forward to reading more blog.
