Time flies and soon I'm home! I just arrived in Rio de Janeiro last night and the whole hostel went out to a samba Club Night. It was great fun, though I apparently suck in samba (but then again who doesn't when they're not brazillian?) I still miss the amazon!!!!
I left Manaus in a rush with 'black bullet' (a huge black guy, working for Gero's who drove like crazy!) Arrived at the airport and I felt so dizzy...got some food and got a bit better. Boarded the plane and slept almost all the trip down to Sao Paulo. Felt so tired and I couldn't lift my arms..I also had a rash on both my arms so I got so worried. I decided to go to the medical room at the airport. The doctors didn't really care but they gave me some allergy medicin and it was just nice to lie down! Lost my connection flight to Curitiba but Gol gave me a free night at a hotel and a new ticket the next day... Nice hotel, nice TV and NICE roomservice!!! The next day I went shopping for more warm clothes! Went to the airport and it was chaos because of extra security and when I finally arrived at the gate, the flight was delayed!
Arrived in Curitiba late and found a hotel. The next morning I woke up early and went to sort out my plans for the day. Got my bus ticket to Foz and got my train ticket to Morrets, which is supposed to be one of the marvel travels in Brazil...The temperature outside was 7 degrees and it was the same inside the train! The journey was amazing though and by the time we reached Morrets the temperature was getting much better. Bussed back to Curitiba where I strolled the streets the whole afternoon...
Got the bus to Foz bright and early (means 6 am) and I got a bus to the center. Decided to walk to find my hostel which wasn't a good idea...Again I found myself with 15 kg on my back, struggling up 100 hills! The hostel was great though! Javier and his mum had converted their house to a hostel, with a swimmingpool and the lovliest outdoor kitchen! I tried my first mate te (a stimulating te that all the argentinians drink), so after a healthy breakfast inkluding 5 cups of mate, 1 cup of coffee and a few cigaretts my body was ready to explore one of the most wonderful waterfalls in the world! At the moment there were not a lot of water but I still enjoyed it! I can only immagine how stunning it must be in the rainyseason... In the afternoon I went to Itaipu which is the largest hydrodam in the world...really awful-looking and the tour was suicidal-boreing!
On Friday I overslept and failed to wake up one of the girls in my dorm...the whole morning was just chaos...I decided to adventure the argentinian side on my own and by that obviously saving some money (in theory!) ... Got the bus to the border (10 min) where I was close to not get off to get my passport stamped. Waited for 30 min for the next bus, cause there were 5 companies and none of them would accept my ticket. Bought a new one and bussed to the argentinian border where the bus luckily was waiting for me. Bussed another 2 minutes and had to get off and wait for another bus to take me to the national park! What's wrong with this place??? 3 bussed to get 5 km!!!! Enjoyed the park, even though it was really touristy with large groups of people wearing the same hats! On this side you could get really close to the falls and it was amazing! Strolled around the different trails the rest of the day and adventured the bus system back to Brazil! I think I would love Argentina though! It's strange to cross the border and see people, architecture, transportation and in this case, the language change!
My last bussride, 24 hours, to Rio de Janerio...
