Todays mission: diving the Blue Hole Got up early and went to the pier. We were about 10 divers waiting for the boat from Ambergris Keyes... I bet the boat was bigger than the one Big Fish Dive Center has! I'm so glad I didn't go diving with them yesterday or booked this tour with them! They didn't even go to the Blue Hole today!!! The boatride out to the Lighthouse Reef took about 2 hours and when we got there it was imposible to get the feel of the hole. We saw the curving islands and the dark water... Did the briefing and the instructor said that we all had to go down to 40 meters in 3 minutes to have enough air to swim around the overhang of the stalagmites...Any problems with equalizing or getting the bend ment going straight up again! Got a bit nervous but we geared up and went into the water...The descend started and it felt like I was dropping along the vertical wall...the water got colder and it got darker and darker...made it down to 40 meters and swam through the stalagmites...The sharks were hoovering under an above us (see picture!) and the whole dive was fantastic! I loved the fast drop!! I want to do it again but it won't be the same...WOW!~~~
We did two other dives with beautiful coral, vertical drops and a good ammount of juvenile fish...A spansish guy tried to hit on me under water (yet another new experience for the day!) Had a good time going back to Caye Caulker as well cause there were so many nice people on the boat! I guess it's because most divers are happy campers! At least I am!!!
Tomorrow I'm going back to Guatemala where I'm heading for the highlands this time.... I got the photo of Phil, a british guy...
