Today is the first day of my third cruise, and the first day of the 7 day cruises that we are now doing. 7 day cruises are much nicer than the 10 or 11 day cruises because it means fresh guests and crew more often and more frequent embarks...embark days are the days we only work 9.5 hour days, woooo!
Although on the longer cruises if there are some kids you really like it means you get to know them so well that saying goodbye on the last night can be pretty hard. Like last night, I clocked out 8 minutes last because I was saying goodbye to a family who I loved, the little boy wouldn't let me go!!
Talking of last night, we docked in Barcelona at 10.30pm so we were there overnight and security were working alllllll night and morning which meant we could get off and on the ship whenever we wanted! So we got off the ship at about 12.45am and I got back on about 3.45am...myself, Marielle and Sarah were in the cab together and pretty much once you got in the cab you only saw those people for the night, so the three of us went to a bar on the beach and had sangria, which was nice, but a bit annoying that we weren't all together.
I was told yesterday that I'm going to be working in a different room as of next cruise and I'm so excited!! I'll be working in Vibe which is where the 14-17 year olds hang out and there are only 3 counsellors who work up there, so it'll be very different to the 16 I've been used to! It was quite a struggle getting up there though because I don't think managers really want me up there but Joely's boyfriend, Marcelo, really pushed for me to go up there, so I'm very gratefull for that. So I'll be working with Marcelo and Lucian, and I've been told that Lucian is the father figure, Marcelo is the chilled out one and I have to let my inner crazyness out and be the enthusiastic one...no problem!
Working up in Vibe means my scheduals whill change dramatically, i'll still work the same hours but the shifts are normally in one big chunk, so I might not start till 3pm but will then finish at 1.30am, which will mean missing out on socalising in the evening some nights but I will be able to get off the ship so much more :D PLUS I get a new costume...no more blue and yellow...I'll have a red shirt and cream trousers, ahhh I can't wait!
I managed to get off the ship in Villefranche two days ago and I absolutly loved it, it is so quite and beautiful, I can't wait to go back and see more of the port. I also worked another shore excursion in Corsica last cruise which was nice. The tour took us through the mountains which were absolutly beautiful, although it was SO cloudy that at points you literally looked out of the window and could just see the side of the road/mountain/cliff and then cloud, which was pretty scary mary...especially when we came across other cars and the tour guide had to direct traffic for 20 minutes to safely move around a sharp, narrow corner! The bus took us to a restaurant and I sat with a really nice family and the food was great (and free) and then on the way back we stopped in a little village and saw two churches which were really lovely. There was SO much traffic getting back to the ship and at all aboard time we couldn't even see the ship, now I know that they wouldn't leave knowing that a whole bus load of people weren't there but it was a bit scary!
We're going to Cannes tomorrow for the first time so I hope I get a chance to get off and that the weather is nice...right now there is a hail storm happening and we can't sail out of Barcelona because of it!
Untill next time...xxxx
