It's only been a week in Thailand. We have done so much already! We stayed in Bangkok for one night because our flight got in late, and that was enough for us. There is way too much sex tourism.
We took a flight to North Thailand, Chiang Mai. Got in and used up every minute we got to fit everything in. We went to a 4 course cooking class. We made Pad Thai, Spring Rolls, Papaya Salad, Curry Paste, Curry Chicken with the paste, and Chicken Cashew. It was delish!
The next morning we woke up early and joined a 3 day jungle trek. We got dropped off in the middle of the jungle and started walking. Because it was so last minute I did not have any shoes with me and had to walk in flats. It started stretching so I ended up wearing 3 pairs of socks and taping my feet to the flats.
We hiked for about 4 hours to get to an old couples farm on the mountains where we spent the night. Their way of life is so relaxing, the view from the home was amazing and peaceful. It was very nice of them to share that moment with us. We prepared dinner together and sat by the fire. After that we went night trekking for about an hour. Seeing the jungle at night time was fun, we saw different kinds of bugs, a tarantula, we find a home of a mouse and chased after it. Killed it and than roasted it on the fire!!
The day after we hiked again to another village. On the way we stopped at a small waterfall and made noodles over the fire. The next village we got to was a lot bigger than the first one. There were a lot of children and they were very cute and curious. Justin played foot volleyball with the boys and I sat around the fire with the girls. Learning how they live their lives make me appreciate what we have so much more. Most of their supply, food, and medicine are picked and made in the forest from scratch. Bamboo is a very essential item for them. They use it to make chopsticks, cups, bowls. They also use it to cook with. They put rice, coconut milk, coconut sugar and black bean in the bamboo and cooked it over the fire to make our desert!
Overall, the trek was full of memories and is out of my comfort zone. But I'm so glad we did it. I will always remember these few days.
