'The boat trip was pretty rough and we were doing a major repack so we both got a bit squiffy in the tummy so I in particular didn't have too many of the lovely giant prawns that were on offer for the final dinner. We got to bed after 10 pm and this morning it was a 5am wake up call. Bags outside the cabin door at 5.10 and breakfast and then we were in the zodiacs and on the wharf by 6am. Bus to airport included over an hour looking at giant tortoises and mum took another 100 photos even though we got 200 photos of tortoises 6 days ago at a different (but better) location. Anyway we got to the Galapagos airport by 9am and left on time for Quito. We are staying in our airport hotel tonight and flying towards our Amazon 4 day lodge at 11am. Tomorrow the last part of our journey is in a paddled dug out canoe!!!! Galapagos was quite unbelievable... So many birds that never reacted to how close you were. I think it was better than animal safaris that we've done in South Africa partly because the landscape was so amazing. We've walked on lots of lava rock. PS we are back at 2600 metres. Should be acclimatised by now.'
