Baca Baca, Barcelona!
We arrived to our hotel (20 kms from Barcelona) early in the afternoon, after having driven for most of the day we decided to take it fairly easily and have a kip, swim and a bite to eat at a local cafe - it was typical Catalanyan food apparently - all we know is that it was rather yummy!
The following morning we headed off to the city rather early - furst stop was to walk down Las Rumblas - there were so many street performers and so many tourists! There was everything form people dressed up as cats in garbage cans to people wearing fruit. The street was also full of florists and birds. Once we had walked down Las Ramblas we were near the port where we decided to tour the City via the Bus Tour (we only really had one day to see everything). Chris and I both agreed if we hadn't done it this way we would have missed out a lot of the sights!
We saw the Sagrada Familia (Gaudi), the Palace, Barcelona Football Club, Olympic Village and the Gothic area to name a few. We stopped off and had Gazpacho, Paella and Sangria. We then hopped back on the bus and made our way up to Park Guell (Gaudi) where we wandered around the park for an hour or so before walking down to the Hospital de la Santa Creu i Sant Pau which was designed by Domenech i Muntaner (1901). We then proceeded to walk down to the Sagrada Familia Temple - one of the things that stood out to me and what I found to be rather touching was that he had Jesus inscribed on one of the spires underneath was Maria and next to her name was Joesph.
We then hoped on the metro to make our way back to the hotel!
