Have really enjoyed the company of everyone on the tour. Diverse but no primadonnas. Boarded the bus for our long drive to Lisbon. Most people just decided to sleep or read. Elaine and I had a very interesting conversation with a fellow from Miami. We learned of the downgrading of the US dollar as well as the low Dow Jones plus the riots in England and it made for lively discussion.
The countryside was much the same with sunflowers and olive trees. We saw more farms with the rock walls as fences and beautiful whitewashed walled homes. When they're built around the courtyard it helps with the weather as well as for entertaining friends. Rioja wine, big Spanish olives, olive oil and crusty rolls makes for a great snack. Not many cities along this route but we do make a couple of stops.
Language is quite different in Portugal. Spain,Italian and French all have similarities but Portugese has it's own sound. Not a problem though because everyone speaks very good English in the shops and restaurants. A beer is a beer; wine is a wine.
Lisbon is a large city on either side of the Tagus river. It was great to be at the hotel and relax in our very nice room.
