We had planned to stay overnight in Milan but when we got to the station we were told that the World's largest Trade Fair was happening and there wasn't a bed to be had for miles around!! We made a quick decision to move on to Turin which was closer to were we were headed anyway. We found a pretty "low rent" hotel ( a shoebox of a room with a view into a grotty lightwell!) but it was in the centre of town and close to the station.
International Women's Day and there was a big exhibition in the main square and hundreds of people everywhere. Turin is set out on a grand plan with broad boulevardes, large squares and long colonnaded footpaths - very impressive. There was also a chocolate fair down by the river - every imaginable way to have chocolate!
Next morning we had some fun - the train on into France left from another station and we didn't know! We had 20 minutes to go across town by Metro and find the station and the train - carrying all our luggage!! We made it with about 3 minutes to spare! Heart stopping!
