Off to a bumpy start! Chris and Brett's flight was cancelled after spending four hours at the Winnipeg airport - Thanks Delta! How disappointing!! Rebooked for the next day and hopefully have a flight without any issues.
Myles and I had a good flight, until we went to picked up our luggage in Reykjavik airport. Apparently my bag didn't make the flight - ugghhh! Spent an extra hour at the airport filling out forms. Then I dropped my ipad at the baggage counter, chipped my keyboard and popped out the function button.
Picked up our rental car - all good! Myles was so excited that he could say Thorsteinson, and didn't have to spell it! Nice little Suzuki SUV will be perfect for touring around.
Headed into Reykjavik and drove around a bit downtown. Decided were we tired and hungry, so found a little restaurant and had a weird breakfast - toasted ham and cheese sandwich with a salad. Wandered around downtown for awhile enjoying the sights and shops on the quaint streets. Went to our hotel to see when we could check in and apparently my luggage has been found and will be delivered to our hotel. Things are looking up!
Myles called his cousin Dísa, and they invited us over for coffee. Had a wonderful time visiting with Dísa, Steini, and Dísa's mom. Dísa took us for a ride in her new electric car (Nissan Leaf) to make sure my bag arrived at the hotel - success! Dísa and Steini offered to take us for a drive to Hveragerði, a geothermal area with some crazy steaming water and mud river - very cool! Had some coffee and cake before heading back to Reykjavik. We are both totally exhausted after staying up for 24 hours with only a few catnaps. Picked up some groceries...and headed to the hotel to crash for the night.
