Wednesday 16th January
We have spent four days crossing the Atlantic and have now reached the Caribbean. Today we arrived in Castries, St Lucia. It was a lovely sail in on a hot sunny morning. We went on a catamaran around the west coast of the island. The sea was a beautiful blue and we stopped in a small bay and I went swimming. After that we had a rum punch as we sailed on to Soufriere and The Pitons - two peaks that are thought to be made out of lava. We then went by minibus to the botanical gardens and then on to the sulphur springs. The springs is bubbling mud inside a collapsed volcanic crater. It was extremely smelly! We had a buffet lunch of local dishes and travelled back to Castries along some very winding roads with beautiful views of the coast.
