Following the attack that killed 38 in Sousse Friday, June 26, travel agencies are overwhelmed by stays of cancellation requests in Tunisia for departures in July. This would apply "between 6,000 and 7,000 departures" says Jean-Pierre Mas, president of the Union of French travel agencies.
Three days after the attack in Sousse which caused the death of thirty-eight people, including a majority of British tourists, travel agencies drowning stays cancellation requests planned for July in Tunisia.
A blow to the economy of Tunisia, while summer bookings were already down 40% after the bombing of the Bardo museum in Tunis in March 2015 that killed 21 tourists.
"It is estimated carryover requests for departures from July between 75% and 80% of reservations," said Jean-Marc Mas, president of Unions for French travel agencies. This equates to approximately "6,000 or 7,000 departures," he adds.
