After a good (but relatively short) night's sleep at a decent airport hotel (which we were reliably informed by our driver is owned by a wealthy emirates individual), we set off to find out what was in store for us to take on our mobile home. And indeed we got a full induction including briefing DVD - exciting stuff.
And then... off to the local supermarket to buy all those essential things - that place must make a fortune with the motor home rental business alone! It's the only one in the area and the different rental companies all encourage people to go there... Either way, no choice!
We set off on our first full mobile home experience. Quite a large beast comparaed to our usual sized cars, though we're tall we can both stand up straight! The winding roads across the hills were a bit of an issue particularly as there are a lot of one-way bridges to cross along a two-way road!
We made it to Shelly Beach, which is out of Coromandel Town, east of Auckland in the Coromandel Peninsula (had to be, with that name!). The scenery is fantastic, went walking on the beach which is set with beautiful green hills on either side - can't wait to see that again first thing in the morning and hopefully having breakfast outside. Sun was out today, but quite a pleasant 27 to 31 degrees...
For tomorrow - well we hope to visit Cathedral Cove and then head south a bit to Waihti - another beach location.
