Half-way through our stay in Portugal now, weather has again been kind and sunny with no rain. Some days are hot and others cloudy but warm. We are real farm hands this week, shoveling manure over fields by hand and tending blueberries planted in the most beautiful meadow that smells enchantingly of wild mint. We also have to feed the chickens, collect the eggs, look after three goats, we have nicknamed Gloria, Eric and little Jimmy . However we have just discovered the kid is a girl so it may be changed to Jenna! We have to feed the sheep, the horses and four long horn cows, then take them out to the fields. This workaway does not seem to be time related and we are working at different times during the day, it is very chaotic at times! Yesterday we had to cook an English roast. They don't have bisto here so we had very pale gravy that they call sauce. Roast chicken (not as we know it) followed by Apple crumble. It turned out quite well, even if I say so myself, and everyone seemed to enjoy it. We eat at about 9 or 10 pm at night, which is very strange and hell on the digestion sleeping with a full stomach. Not sure what we will be doing next week, more of the same I suspect.
