We have now finished our last session in the garden for this week. We have had a great time exploring Itoshima on our bikes. The local people have been very friendly, everyone saying hello either in English or saying Kon'nichiwa, hello in Japanese.
Last Sunday was my birthday, so we had lunch at a small Japanese Restaurant overlooking the bay watching the surfboarders. I had baked squid in soy sauce, rice, soup and a sweet made of coffee jelly with cream on top. Chris had a grilled fish, like a skate we think, served with a flask of tea. We both enjoyed it very much. Such a nice way to celebrate my birthday.
The sun sets at about 5.30 here over the water. It had been quite windy earlier in the week and the waves were still high. The area is renowned for its spectacular sunsets so at the end of the day I persuaded Chris to go and watch the sunset. We weren't disappointed, the sun slowly disappeared behind the hill, the light deflected off the clouds lighting them from below, with golden rays spreading up across the sky - truly stunning. I took so many photos I can't decide which ones to delete they are all so lovely!
Unfortunately tomorrow is our last day on Sunday we fly to Bangkok, Thailand.
