Here is my little blog to keep you all posted.. if you care lol.
After a long delay (2.5 hours) in New York because of de-icing due to some snow the rest of the trip went well. Everyone missed their flights but we were re scheduled in sydney no problem. Qantas was excellent... they really take care of you. They had interactive screens on each seat with movies, music, tv, and games. Food wasnt too bad either. Regardless is was a looooooooooooonng flight. I diddnt arrive in Melbourne till after 1PM and eventually got to my apartment complex around 230 or so. Its difficult to tell because I had been in such a time warp for the past 3 days or so. (thanks to the last week I was at school)
So I met a few kids coming off the plane that were doing the same program I was and we took the shuttle together. One kid was from UPenn and is actually living 2 doors down from me. He actually stayed in my room last night because his room wasnt ready yet. We walked around the town looking for stores and exploring last night. We got dinner at the pub next door.
The Village I am living in is really cool. It has a very european/italian style villa look. My room has 2 rooms, kitchen, bathroom, and a balcony that overlooks the courtyard. I finaly signed up for internet access today and situated myself. We went exploring around downtown Melbourne this morning. It is sooooo cool. Lots of cool little shops, really cool buildings, sweet architecture. Coolest part in my mind are all the little alleyways they have where most of the real sweet shops and cafes are. Lots of different foods everywhere. Things are a somewhat expensive, especially beer and alcohol.
Other than that things are pretty quiet. Most students arent here yet and the melbourne welcome program dosent start till the 15th. so Im basically killing time untill then. Ill keep you posted.
