March 22nd
The weather is beautiful 15 and sunny, yesterday was my 63rd birthday and we had planned to go to a
Restaurant at The Berkeley Hotel, Pierre Kauffman - the reason is I have one of his cook books and the stories
that go with the dishes we have always enjoyed Robert would read them to me while I cooked. Anyway we decided
to wait and celebrate our 33rd Wedding Anniv there instead as my back is still giving me pain - thank goodness for
the Osto today I hope he fixes it. We did walk to Kew Gardens instead - we have a season ticket as it is right near where
we are living and I can see we will have many picnics in the beautiful grounds. We enjoyed the Queens garden
behind Kew Palace . Kew Palace is where the moved King George the 111 ( when he was going mad)
he had 15 children to a beautiful wife so he could not have been too mad.
They probably thought the gardens would improve him. The plantings in the queens garden I found very interesting
they were all the old plants that was used for medicine's. The had small plaques when very interesting sayings
in old English. I am trying to upload some of the photos but not having any luck.
Robert has gone out today by himself let's hope he does not either get lost, catch the wrong train or lose his wallet.
He wanted to go to Holt's Gun Auction - no not to buy another gun I hope
Robert got offered a job the other day,we called into a marvellous second hand book shop near where we are
living and of course the guy who owned it was a very interesting man, gun man of course, a collector,
set up Christies Auction house gun division, and wrote three very well known books on guns and shooting at the great estates anyway they had a lovely time chatting - I walked home.
George rang me for my birthday which was nice the renovations have started so they are pleased lets hope they
get to block all the holes under the house so they can stop that silly dog from escaping they should have
called him Houdini not Johann.

I have been very lazy still trying to get this rib untwisted which is giving me a lot of pain. I was determined to go to
the Oxford Boat race as it was on our list. It didn't start till 5pm and it was freezing we had walked from the train
station and my rib was having great contractions, urgently needed a glass of wine to stop the spasm. It was so busy
Robert bought a bottle as he would not get back into the pub again. We stood talking to a nice family drinking wine in
the freezing cold - didn't see a thing to many people and there was no way I could push forward just in case someone
bumped me. We enjoyed it - it was easier to walk home on the tow path beside the river than walk back to the
train station so 1 and a 1/4 miles we made it home - needed to call into the Putny rowing club for a whisky to help
the contractions, boy they were bad - we had a quiet day on the Sunday recovering. I might add we were on the wrong
side of the river as there were no pubs to stop and rest, they were all over the other side.
