Just had crazy adventures in Italy. I stayed in Rome for 4 nights and met amazing/insane people. The city of Rome was okay, the monuments were deadly cool but the city is pretty ugly (especially after just coming from Firenze). But we had so much fun. I planked the Trevi Fountain (you're welcome Karley). So lots of funny drama and entertainment for me. All the time. I met a guy, Billy, who was an underwater welder aka one of the most dangerous and well paid jobs in the world. I met two guys Brad and Das who have been traveling western Europe in a van, I met an insane INSANE Kiwi named Kate who was the most aggressive Kindy teacher ever, annoying Americans who ask hilarious questions and say hilarious things. A few examples how about?
American: You sound Australian.
Das: I'm from England actually.
American: Oh wow! London?
Das: Oh hah. No actually south east near Bristol.
American: oh I don't really care about geography.
Das: uh okay. Where are you from?
American: Chicago
Das: Cool, cheer for the Cubs or Sox?
American: Do you even know where Chicago is?
Me: Dying with laughter.
Here are some funny one liners I have been collecting.
Canada, one big sheet of ice.
Canada is like the armpit of the world.
How do the maple bees make syrup in the winter? Don't they die?
The biggest countries in the world according to an American: Antarctica, America, (here is where it USED to be Russia) China, Russia, Australia, Canada.
American: want to know the best day for Canada?
Me: Hah, sure?
American: When we take it over and colonize you. You guys would be like, our slaves, but something is better then nothing for you guys, you know? It sorta makes me sad.
Hahaha. Well, I reckon that's enough funny quotes for now. Next came Sorrento. On our way we stoped in Napoli and it is SKETCHVILLE. I am so happy we didn't sleep there! No offense Naples, I am sure that the old town and other things are fab, but downtown and the train center were terrifying! Anyway the hostel we stayed at in Sorrento was a bit outside of the city but the boys were there so we would drive into town instead of taking the train! Woo! The hostel was so beautiful, it was practically a hotel. But there was no one there. Most hostels are bumping after dinner with drinking games and board games and beer but this one was dead. It was weird, but I can't imagine how incredible it would have been during high season. There is a roof top bar! Okay so from Sorrento we did the Amalfi Coast- which is by far the best coast I have ever seen with the best scenery and it was so beautiful. The road is WORSE then driving in those scary sections in the Rockys and it's like that the whole way. We scootered on the coast which made it feel like we were going ten times faster. The next day Kylie left, and we decided to go to the island of Capri! It had some pretty sites, and I saw some jelly fish, but again the best part was scootering. Hah. I can't even explain how fun it is! Going back to Sorrento from Capri was an adventure to say the least, and a story to be told in person!
So after that we packed up and headed to Pompeii. Alot of people say they don't really like Pompeii and it was just like looking at a whole bunch of old rocks but we all thought it was so incredible. The amount that was preserved from all the sulphur from the eruption is incredible. Then we drove back up to Rome where I had to catch my flight from! Which is why this blog entry is so bloody long because I am waiting in the airport so I can HONESTLY think about things!
I am going to be home so soon... Weird!
