Käthe Kollwitz. She is an absolutely marvelous artist and extraordinary human being. Yesterday I went to one of her exhibits. It was in an old historical building and had one room. You walk in and there is a beautiful sculpture in the middle of a person protecting a child. Above the sculpture the roof has been cut out so it's a huge hole. It was raining so the sculpture was soaking wet and looked like the person was crying. The piece has a title of "For the People of War and Tyranny".
It was amazing.
Also today I went to the Bode Museum. They have a renaissance exhibit and all about the progression of portraits and all the different countries. It was amazing. They somehow got all this Leonardo da Vinci work. I know it probably seems silly, but it was just AMAZING to see the real thing. By far the best piece in the museum was "a portrait of a lady with an ermine".
Anyway, concentration camp tomorrow. Also. I am the only girl in the ten bed room now. Great. It's so smelly.
