Adventures of a Global Wanderer
We reached back in town at 1.30, an hour ahead of schedule, and there was an option to drop off at The War Remnants Museum rather than back to this mornings meeting point. This suited me as I can start at the first point on my city tour and work my way back. Entry was 15,000 VND (.75 cents) and had many war planes, helicopters, and tanks in the outside grounds. There was a detailed exhibit on the torture prisoners were made to suffer. Inside the three storey building housed more exhibitions. There were many photos and displays of light weapons. Pictures of americans, vietnamese, and war damage. Most disturbing was the exhibit on orange gas. There were photos of grotesque mutilations and deformaties that had occured from exposure to the gas. Most of the photos I could not look at or photograph, particularly ones of children, but I chose to take a couple to share the graphic nature of warfare. This is the reality those people staging their victory photos this morning fail to realize. By any definition of international, legal, or moral law these were war crimes against a civiliation population for a war based on ideology. But such is the world order that only victors justice applies and nobody will be held to account for these attrocities. "The Trial of Henry Kissinger" is a well written book by Christopher Hitchens detailling his war crimes in every continent and conflict. It is ironic that the author has since died while the subject is still living as a nobel winning 'respcted' statesman. http://www.amazon.com/Trial-Henry-Kissi nger-Christopher-Hitchens/dp/1859843980 /ref=sr_1_1?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid =1328675919&sr=1-1 **WARNING THE LAST TWO PICTURES ARE VERY DISTURBING**
