Last stop today on Djurgarden Island was the Skansen Open Air Museum. I timed this last as the tourist office told me there would be a Spring Bonfire Festival after 9pm. However it doesnt get dark till 10pm making for a very long day.There are similar outdoor folk heritage villages in Norway as well as Korea and some other countries. One of the museums I was eager to visit was the Abba Museum which had opened in the last few years since my last visit in 2003. The next museum and probably the most famous on the island is the Vasa ship museum. This is a raised galleon style ship similar to the Tudor Mary Rose ship that was raised in the early 80s in England.I have no idea why I didnt come here on my last trip. First of the Djurgarden Island museums was the Nordiska Museet which was a Swedish culture museum. The exterior itself was quite impressive and modelled on some of the Danish Castles.The theme was the Swedish home.
