After the close of the evenings athletics program the crowds were eagerly awaiting the closing and much anticipated K-Pop concert. The stadium was now packed with excitement, crowds, and many cheering fans awaiting their favourite stars. The first group to perform was 'A Pink' after some official closing remarks. After the elaborate opening events with a fly by air show the main three hour evenings events took place. There were track and field events in all disciplines including high jump, long jump, shot put, javelin, hammer throw, 1500m, 400m, 100m, hurdles, and relay. Many of the athletes from the recent August games had returned allowing for a brief evening to relive the recent games. Daegu was proud to host the 9 day IAAF games last August where Usain Bolt triumphed and set a new world record. This week the city hosted a one day special track and field meet where many of the big names returned from last August for one more chance to compete. It seems as though the city forgot the games ended last August as the stadium was packed full of festivities for this three hour athletic event. Tuesdays I have Korean Class at the YMCA but this Tuesday was Teachers Day so classes were cancelled. Instead they decided to take us students on a trip to the nearby Daegu Stadium to see a Samsung Lions Baseball Game. This was my first baseball game in Korea and it turned out to be quite a fun party Tickets were relatively inexpensive at 9000w ($8) compared to back home.
