Adventures of a Global Wanderer
title inside joke with my sister
so the bus ride to kuala lumpur was nice
really 4 hours but makes it 5 hours coz u have to get off twice for the border
not really a coach service and more like a plane as they serve meals and have a movie
my hotel is amazing
look it up corus hotel kuala lumpur on the internet
so my room is the 3rd floor and i asked if i can have a higher floor with a city view
they said because i have a king size room they can only offer me a double
so poor me has to suffer with a king size after my ordeal in singapore :)
the room is bigger than the boardroom and i have a private balcony the size of the print room
so next door is a shopping mall that connects to the metro and the petronas twin towers
inside is a six level shopping mall...
this seems to be the new downtown and hang out place as there is a mini forest around it and
at the base they do a fountain show which is all lit up at night
this morning i tried to get a ticket to go up to the walkway but they are limited each day so you have to queue up
from 7 or 8 am... good job i have extra time and am staying next door
then i went to putra jaya which is a new administrative centre they have built out in the suburbs
quite modern and mughal style indian architecture in the buildings
only me on my trips, i'm in the middle of nowhere in 30+ heat looknig for a bus stop
even a police car asked me what i was doing and he told me to wait at the wrong stop
for lunch tried this thing again which was a platter of rice, chicken, shrimp, and vegetables
came back in the afternoon and headed out to the batu caves which is a hindu shrine
u have to climb up all these steps again but more than the big budda
and out of nowhere theres monkeys come out and start tugging at my bag
u cant fight them off as i'd lose balance on these steps but luckily they get
scared off when u shout at them
the metro system is dumb
they dont have day passes
instead you have to buy a ticket for each trip
but if u want to change lines u have to exit and but a ticket again for the next line
dont know how people put up with that every day
u feel the heat more here coz its the interior and hong kong/ singapore were on the sea
traffic is gridlock in the downtown and the architecture is like saddar in karachi
thats why i say its like karachi with a metro system here
found another bazaar in the city centre with more knock off shirts
one was 45 so i walked away so he said i can have it for 25 so i said ok
then another place asked me how much i paid so i said 25 so he said he'll give me another shirt for 20
then i found a lonsdale shirt that tita was supposed to buy me from london
he wanted 65 and i showed the two shirts that i got for 25 and 20 so ended up paying 30 :)
stomach is fine, bit of pollution here so is getting to me, air conditioning getting to me too
not too many mosquitoes, no allergies
tomorrow will take the bus to melaka which is the old colonial capital 2 hours away
and the next day fly to yogyakarta on the island of java in indonesia
bye for now :)
