ALOHA! (seems to be the way to say hello here at the hamburg school of entertainment)
Home alone! Matt is off to the UK for an audition tomorrow and later in the week he'll fly to Los Angeles to participate in the World Championship for Yoga, since he became Brittain's Champion :) Woohoo!
Two weeks have passed since I started rehearsing, and boy oh boy, it goes fast! We've did 4 full shows and have been starting with some new stuff from different shows. Vocally we finished the Schlager Poolparty show and the welome show: Earth Wind & Fire and also started on the Don't Stop the Music show.
Schlager Poolparty is a show with some typical German schlager-songs. I was dreading it, but it turned out to be hilarious and some very nice songs! I sing "Save all your kisses for me" which is a famous Eurovision Song Contest song. A lot of the songs are very addictive to sing a long!
Earth Wind & Fire was quite a tough one. I have to sing above my vocal range almost the entire show. Songs as: September, Fantasy, After the Love has gone... Crazy! I feel like a Bee Gee! But I bet the audience will love it, because it's great music!
On the picture you can see our big rehearsal room by the way. We don't always rehearse there because the other 'casts' of the other ships need the room as well, so at least once or twice a week we rehearse there, which of course is very nice because they can build the stage there just like on the ship.
I'm having a great time with all my lovely collegues! Yesterday the company gave us free tickets to see the show: India which is playing in Hamburg at the moment. It was a mixture of traditional dance & circus acts. Absolutely amazing. Before going there I shared a lovely Italian meal cooked by our Italian mamma: Sylvia. Sara and I made a very nice desert and had a very rushed but nice dinner! Like I said, the show was great. A man walking on a rope high above the floor, balancing a huge thing on his head with fire on top. Not only was he walking, he was bouncing and sitting and standing up again. I couldn't watch sometimes!
Today I was lucky to start at 12pm so I could sleep in a little. In the afternoon me and Jannike worked with the dancers and our Russian choreographer Vlada, on a song from Don't Stop the Music: 1999. It's a pretty boring song, but with the choreo it looks pretty nice! After that we worked with Phil on "Let Me Entertain You" & "Faith". Let me entertain you was very hard, because we have a microphone with about a meter of rope hanging out of it, and we have to do all these synchronised movements and choreo steps with it. It was pretty bad, but we'll get it. Jannike and me did a choreo to Faith together with Marthy. This was actually pretty nice and made more sense to me!
Jannike and I are a nice duo on stage because we're both tall so I don't have to look down when we sing together ;-)
Tomorrow we continue with Don't Stop the Music and are also gonna review a lot of stuff we've learned so far! Also I'm gonna start on learning what I have to do during my solo Fame (which is from the show Reise Zum Mittelpunkt der Erde).
And now... off to bed :)
