Drove the car (a Proton?) to the airport to return it at 8am. Check in to my Air Asia flight started at 8 as well, so everything was set up for succes towards the next and final stage of my trip around the world. Small delay but left shortly after 10. Plane wasnt full so i moved to the very back row to have some space and be away from the Asians that love to sniffle, snuffle, burp and fart without any sign of shame...
Marvelous to arrive at Singapore, seeing all the ships waiting to get to the harbour (my dad told me the right term for this sometimes but now I cant remember). Immigration went fast and took the train to the Bunc Hostel. What an amazing place after the several s***holes i have been staying at. This place opened 3 months ago, looks like a design hotel, has the best matrass, covers, pillows, showers, gaming room with flat screens, xbox, unlimited breakfast etc etc. Do i sound excited enough? And this for 18€/night.
Singapore is clean and tidy and polite and a good last phase of this trip, a hub to home. I walk a lot, through the Bugis and Albert street markets, completely air-conditioned shopping streets, the national library, i visit the national museum of Singapore, Clarke street and -quay, the famous symbol of SG: the water spitting lion. I eat wonderfull indian anc chinese food in little india and chinatown. As if you are on another continent. Oh wait, I am.. ;-). The music, food and atmosphere of the different neighbourhoods make you forget you are in SG sometimes.
The watermelon, mango or avocado juices are refreshing, the Tiger beer is good. I spent a few hours on Orchard Road, amazing number of upscale shops, name the Chanels, Diors, Armanis, D&G's and those are the cheaper stored it seems. Hundreds of meters of multiple level decadence. Now writing this from Chinatown streets, realising its my last night. Tomorrow my flight takes off at 11pm to Paris and from there to Amsterdam. Going to take another Tiger, catch you later!
